Central Oahu, normally considered to be the towns of Pearl City, Mililani, Wahiawa, Ewa Beach and Kapolei, is perfectly situated to provide easy access to the entire island. Although Pearl City is the community most closely identified with Central Oahu, the area includes the entire region located between the Waianae and Kollau mountain ranges. Even the furthest reaches are within a half hour of Central Oahu, including downtown Honolulu, making the area among the most convenient on Oahu.
Even though the entire island is easily accessible, you won’t need to go far afield for work or play. The shopping center at Pearlridge is a five-minute drive, providing retail stores, restaurants, offices, and the only hospital located in a shopping mall. Also close by are Pearl Harbor and Schofield Barracks, as well as the Arizona Memorial. The new Central Oahu Regional Park has both baseball and softball diamonds, with tennis courts and an archery range coming soon.
Central Oahu real estate has been booming for the last few years, as families move out of the Honolulu area into other parts of the island. Single-family homes average at approximately 600K, although the range is significant as the neighborhoods are varied. Central Oahu condominiums are also plentiful, with many buildings having been constructed in the last days of the 20th century. Prices vary with amenities but a general average is $400K for a two-bedroom unit. Townhomes are also popular and range in the $500Ks.
