Pearl City is a great place for families. Located between Aiea and Waipahu on the southern shore, looking out over Pearl Harbor. With easy access to Honolulu, it is an easy commute for work or play, although the area has much to offer in its own right. The Pearl City Shopping Center offers a mix of retail, restaurant, and other businesses, including a number of medical offices. The Urban Garden Center offers tours, educational programs, and the popular Children’s Garden. There is a thriving, community supported Little League baseball program, which has had global success multiple times over the years. In 1998 the District 7 team advanced to the Little League World Series finals, and in 2007, the District 7 team won the Junior League World Series.
Commuting to Honolulu is easy, and the trip to Waikiki is approximately 30 minutes. Also nearby is Pearl Ridge, the largest indoor shopping center in Hawaii. A combination of boutiques, department stores and restaurants, Pearl Ridge can satisfy even the most hardened shopaholic.
Pearl City home prices vary by location. Like many other areas of the island, picturesque views and proximity to the beach come at a premium. In general however, homes average approximately $600K for a 3 or 4 bedroom. Condominiums in Pearl City are in the $250K range, although there are some bargains to be had. Many condominiums in the area were built in the 1980’s, and prices will vary depending on the amount of upgrades and amenities.
